Union vs Colon
Union Santa Fe managed to return to winning ways last weekend, when beating Aldosivi 2-1 away from home. Therefore, the team broke a five-game winless run of one draw and four defeats in the Superliga. Leonardo Madelon’s men still have to improve their performance as they collected eight points in as many rounds. Four of those points were claimed at 15 de Abril Stadium following one win, one draw and one defeat. Union Santa Fe playmaker Juan Ignacio Cavallaro suffered a knee injury at Aldosivi and is a doubt.
After qualifying for the Copa Sudamericana final, Colon took a little breather on their relegation struggle by beating Argentinos Juniors 1-0 at home thanks to a strike from Christian Bernardi in the first half. Pablo Lavallen’s men are slightly improving: they lost only one of their last four league games (two wins, one draw) to accumulate ten points. However, none of those points were earned on away turf as El Sabalero lost to Huracan, Independiente and Lanus. All Colon’s regulars are at Pablo Lavallen’s disposal as Alex Vigo has overcome his muscle issues.
The Santa Fe derby finds Colon in very good form and mood, coming from reaching the Copa Sudamericana final, and they should have enough to get something out of this game.
