Sporting Cristal (Peru) vs Godoy Cruz (Argentina)
Sporting Cristal returned home empty-handed after a thrilling 5-4 away defeat at Universidad Concepcion in Chile in their Copa Libertadores’ debut. On Saturday, coach Claudio Vivas fielded a mixed XI, but the team still managed to claim a 1-0 home win over Union Comercio, which means they remain as league leaders with a perfect record (12 points in four rounds) in the Torneo Apertura. Sporting Cristal also is on five home wins in a row without even conceding. Tuesday’s game will take place at Estadio Nacional.
Godoy Cruz made their debut in the Copa Libertadores’ group C last Tuesday when they settled for a 0-0 home draw with Olimpia from Paraguay in coach Lucas Bernardi’s debut. On Saturday, El Tomba drew 0-0 again with Rosario Central in Mendoza in a clash between two young lineups. The team accumulate 28 points in the league table and are residing outside of the continental spots. Godoy Cruz is on five winless matches in all competitions (three draws, two defeats) without even scoring. On away turf, they lost to Boca Juniors and Racing Club and drew at arch-rivals San Martin SJ in 2019.
I think Sporting Cristal should be able to win at home as they have been effective up front lately and Godoy Cruz is finding much trouble to score.
